Brain Food Diet
Have you heard of a brain food diet? You may even have discounted this idea as a gimmick to get your attention. Scientific studies have shown there is a correlation between food and your brain. These studies show that certain foods can be considered brain food because they help you perform better throughout the day- thus the brain food diet.
To truly understand this concept we have to look at the facts. Your brain is an organ that works when it has a good supply of oxygen, blood, and nutrients. If you want to concentrate on your work, be motivated, and have a good memory you need to eat foods that promote health in your body. Part of the brain food diet will be eating the right fats.
There are saturated and unsaturated fats. Unsaturated fats like Omega 3 fatty acids can enhance your intelligence during the day. The nutrients allow oxygen and blood to get to your brain. Your brain is then stimulated to do the tasks. Saturated fats contain a lot of cholesterol that blocks the flow of blood and thus the flow of oxygen to the brain. Too many saturated fats like butter can lead to health issues. So if you cut out saturated fats and add brain food diet options like fish you will stimulate your body.
Your mood and mental state are influenced by vitamins, minerals, and hormones in your body. A woman experiences troublesome periods in a month because their hormones change which requests different nutrients; therefore, they can be in a worse mood if the right vitamins are not supplied. The brain food diet requires a high level of vitamin B. Vitamin B deficiencies are highly common in North America.
Studies have found that sugar and carbohydrates can be pleasing to mental stimulation; however, they are not exactly in the brain food diet. Carbs give you a false sense of energy, which dissipates quickly. On the brain food diet you are better off with more protein in your meals than carbohydrates. Eggs, fish, fowl, and other low carbohydrate foods generate the most brain stimulation.
