When preparing poultry, remove the skin and try to eat just the white meat. If you enjoy dairy products the good news is you don't have to give them up. Just make a few changes. Egg substitutes are a good way to enjoy a traditional breakfast without harming cholesterol levels. Butter, margarines, mayonnaise, and peanut butter should be listed on your low cholesterol diet sheet as foods to avoid. However, there are natural peanut butter, nuts and nut butters that can be eaten. If you must use oil make it olive or canola.
Junk food such as processed baked goods and sugary snacks will not show up on your list of foods to eat on the low cholesterol diet sheet. The same thing can be said about white rice, white bread and pasta. Use whole grain products instead.
