Young women's health is generally thought to be for teenagers to women in their 20's. This age of a woman is where puberty has started, a number of body changes are occurring, and women's health is extremely important. How a woman takes care of herself at an early age will determine how well the older years go. So, young women's health will focus on current topics that are most important to a woman of 11 to 30. It is a broad range that can be narrowed to specific years such as 11 to 20.

Young women's health between these ages focuses more on mental health, getting used to the menstrual cycle, understanding body changes, and of course when or if a women wishes to become sexually active.

After 20, most women are sexually active. This offers a whole new need for young women's health. The woman has to understand a yearly exam is imperative, that self-breast exams become more important, and that there is more to look out for regarding young women's health such as potential diseases, whereas an older woman has other health issues such as the impending menopause to focus on.
