Symptoms Of Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria called spirochete. This bacterium is called as borrelia burgdorferi in United States. Borrelia afzelii is another bacterium found in Europe which causes Lyme disease. This bacterium is also found in stomachs of certain Ticks, these ticks are one of the major reasons of spreading Lyme disease. This is not a contagious disease and Lyme disease creates abnormalities in joint, skin, heart and nervous systems.

Lyme disease symptoms are very common in the starting stage, after the bite of tick the area of the bite becomes red. The bacteria enter from the site of bite and then it affects different body organs. It can create problem in heart, nervous system and different joints.

In medical world the illness is categorized in three phrases

1. Early restricted disease - in this phrase the skin gets reddish and a bull's eye is created on the skin.

2. Early dispersed disease - this phrase involves the heart and nervous system and causes meningitis and palsies.

3. Late disease - this phrase includes the sensory and motion damage of brain and arthritis.

In the early stage of sickness reddish mark appears on the skin and this reddish mark is knows as "erythema migrans". Most of the patients can't recognize the tick bite and then because if the virus patients suffer from symptoms like joint stiffness, headache and general fatigue.

After few weeks when the reddish mark disappears the virus affects different parts of the body causing heart and nervous system related problems.

During the late phrase of the sickness virus can cause major heart problems like heart failure and nervous system failure. When this virus affects the joint it can create problems like joint stiffness and swelling. Virus mostly affects the knee joints in the final stages of illness. According to a research it is found that Lyme disease can also set a depressive mind set and it creates confusion in the mind. The occurrence of the disease is very minor in the starting stage and so it is very hard to detect in the initial phases. But as the virus spreads in the body it starts to create problems in different areas of the entire body. This virus is mainly found in areas where ticks are found. If the patient is treated in the early stages then doctors can easily cure the patient but in the later stages it becomes tougher to cure the patient.
