A cup of Cheerios provides about a hundred calories and about one hundred and ninety milligrams of sodium. But one cup of Cheerios does provide a fiber content of around three grams and also a good percent of the Vitamins of the B group.
There is a different variety of cereals for kids under the age of four. The serving portion is around three fourths of a cup and provides excellent amount of iron, B group of vitamins and also folic acid, which are all very efficient in blood growth and development of the brain. It is better to serve the Cheerios with milk or in milk to enhance the calcium and Vitamin D content of the diet.
There are another type of Cheerios flavored with honey and nuts. This Honey n Nut variety is quite sweet and aimed at the fussy children who refuse to have their cereals unless sweetened. This Honey n Nut variety is similar to the regular variety in terms of Vitamin content but has almost nine times more sugar than the basic variety. It is higher in terms of the content amount of carbohydrates, sodium and calories too. It proves an unhealthy option as compared to the regular variety.
Another variety which is almost similar to the Honey n Nuts variety is the frosted Cheerios. This flavor proves to be unhealthier when compared to the basic variety.
The banana and nut flavor has its benefits and disadvantages too. It provides around twenty five percent of the recommended daily allowance of the Vitamin C and is almost 2.5 times more than that of the regular variety. But again it has higher sodium content, sugar and the carbohydrates as compared to the regular variety.
There is a Yogurt burst flavor contains both yogurt and soy also. Though it could be recommended because of the iron and folic acid content, yet there is always the danger of allergy for the lactose intolerant children.
