It is common knowledge that milk is one of the most nutritious food that a human can consume and has been held in high regard in almost all cultures. Whole milk with saturated fats is in fact recommended for children up to two years of age, as it helps in development of the brain. In the later years the milk can have a lesser fat content and for many adults skim milk is very good. Milk also contains fatty acids like omega 3 and 6 which are very good for the heart and general health.
Proteins form almost 3.28% of the milk content as per milk nutrition facts. This protein is mainly in whey and casein protein forms. The casein proteins consists of gamma, beta, alpha s1 and s2. The whey proteins are in the form of blood serum albumin, immunoglobulin and beta-lactalbumin.
As per milk nutrition facts, drinking 250 grams of milk can provide the body with almost 44% of the daily vitamin requirements. Milk has vitamin A, D, K, niacin, riboflavin, B6, betadine, B12, choline, folate and pantothenic acid. The only important vitamins which are not present in milk are B1, C and E.
Among minerals milk contains a lot of calcium potassium and phosphorus. The other minerals present are fluoride, iron, magnesium, selenium, Zinc and sodium.
