Nutrition Diet Weight Loss

Weight loss industry has been doing tremendous business since the last two decades. The direct impact of these businesses doing well has been on the common people.

Exaggerated propaganda coupled with claims of miraculous overnight transformations in to slim and sexy figures have all played their respective parts very well. People are being bombarded by all these constant trade gimmicks, and invitations to join overboard by these weight loss clinics and centers have definitely affected the way people eat and also the way they think about themselves.

Being over weight is considered so out of sync, being slim is in and fashion gurus and international celebrities have taken it a step further with promoting, supporting and propagating super slimness or size zero.

All these weight loss plans and programs usually harp on a specific kind of diet, which they claim is the next invention, and the ticket to overnight weight loss. Very few of these diet plans have a scientific basis, or even if based on some scientific aspect, tend to conveniently over look the inherent deleterious effects accompanying them.

Being obese is definitely not in, but the reason is not at all cosmetic. Obesity has been confirmed by research and clinical studies to promote development of a variety of chronic and even killer diseases, like Hypertension, Diabetes, Cardio vascular diseases etc. Obesity can also accelerate the progress of an existing chronic disease and in certain case transform a relatively milder disease to a killer disease, like in Diabetes. Being obese has a deleterious effect on the overall health.

Weight loss is necessary for such individuals and medically recommended too. But the measures taken to attain weight loss should be safe and done under medical supervision. No drastic measures should be embraced like extreme dieting, milk diet, low carb diet etc.

Every individual is unique, so is his genetic make up. The familial tendency, life style, amount of daily activity, any associated disease, any intake of drugs, habits like smoking, alcoholism, body conditions like pregnancy, lactation and professions like a sportsperson etc are all the different variables that should be considered, evaluated and analyzed before advising a weight loss plan for any individual.

Diet should be regulated in accordance with all these factors. One major thing that escapes the attention of people, during their attempts and efforts at weight loss is, about nutrition. In addition to a regulated diet, the proper intake of the vitamins and essential minerals necessary for optimum health and nutrition should be of prime concern.
