Healthy eating patterns should be emphasized at all levels of live since proper nutrition is very important to good health. Healthy eating helps fight and keep at bay diseases as well as infections. The body is made of 50% to 60% water making water the most important element in any diet. Proper nutrition is not complete without inclusion of water and other fluids. Water helps in chemical activities in the body. It also provides medium for proper functioning of enzymes. Water helps in PH balancing and it is advisable that you include 6 - 8 glasses of water daily to your diet.
Once obtained from the foods we eat, carbohydrates are stored in the muscle glycogen and the liver. This is then released in to the blood in controlled ratios ensuring balance. A proper understanding of glucose storage, digestion and absorption is essential to every nutritionist. Carbohydrates are further broken down into three groups: monosaccharide, disaccharide and polysaccharides. Carbohydrates are very vital in aerobic activities for production of heat and energy. The average consumption of carbohydrates is at 45%-55% in every meal. You should have a proper understanding of how carbohydrates are broken down and utilized in the body.
Lipids make part of a proper nutrition. They are associated with diseases such as cardiovascular complications and a proper understanding of the same is important. Most meals taken have 42% lipid content. Lipids can be broken down into three classes: simple lipids, compound lipids and derived lipids.
9% -15% of daily caloric intake is composed of proteins. Proteins are considered as the body building foods as they play an important role in formation of new cells. Proteins are made from amino acids and complete synthesis of proteins require 22 amino acids with 9 being essential amino acids
You should check for nutritional information found on food packing. The nutrition label provides information about amount of calories, fat, minerals, vitamins and other elements present. This is an essential step towards proper nutrition. Avoid junk food shelves at the grocery; you should understand that nutrition and discipline go hand in hand.
