Fat Content Of Meat Sauce

4 servings, about 2/3 cup each
Nutrients per serving:

Ground beef, lean

1/2 pound

Green pepper, chopped

1/3 cup

Onion, chopped

1/3 cup

No-salt-added tomato pure

half of a 29-ounce can

Dried oregano leaves

1 Teaspoon

Dried basil leaves

1/4 Teaspoon

Salt

1/2 Teaspoon

Garlic powder

1/4 Teaspoon

Cayenne pepper

Dash

Bay leaves

  1. Cook beef, onion, and green pepper in saucepan until beef is lightly browned. Drain fat.
  2. Mix in remaining ingredients.
  3. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover, and cook slowly until flavours are blended, about 30 minutes, stir as needed.
  4. Remove bay leaf.
  5. Serve over cooked pasta
    Note: 2 cloves of minced fresh garlic can be used in place of powder.
