How Many Calories Are In Crusty Whole Wheat Rolls?

Servings: Makes 2 dozen
Nutrition information per serving:

1 1/2 Cups

Whole wheat flour

1 1/2 Cups

All-purpose flour

1 Package

Dry yeast

1 Cup

Warm water

2 Tablespoons

Vegetable oil

1 Tablespoon

Honey

1/2 Teaspoon

Salt

Vegetable cooking spray

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl, let stand 5 minutes. Add oil, honey, and salt. Stir well.
  2. Combine flours, set aside ? cup. Gradually add remaining flours to yeast mixture, stirring to make a stiff dough. Let rest 5 minutes.
  3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth and elastic, gradually adding reserved ? cup flours as needed to keep dough from sticking.
  4. Place dough in a large bowl coated with cooking spray, turning to coat top. Cover and let rise in a warm place, free from drafts, 45 minutes or until doubled in bulk.
  5. Punch dough down, and divide into 24 equal portions. Roll each portion into a rope 8 inches long. Twist each rope into a knot. Place rolls 2 inches apart on baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Cover and let rise in a warm place, 30 minutes.
  6. Bake at 375F for 30 minutes or until browned. Remove from baking sheets, and let cool on wire racks.
