A Tasty Recipe For French Bread

1 Tablespoon

Dry yeast

1/2 Cup

Warm water

1 1/2 Cups

Hot water

1 Tablespoon

Salt

1 Cup

Yogurt

6 Cups

Whole wheat flour

Cornmeal

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and set aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine the hot water, salt, and yogurt. Add the yeast and 4 cups flour. Beat for 7 minutes with electric mixer on low speed. Add the remaining flour and knead 10 minutes. Add more flour if the dough is sticky. Put dough into an oiled bowl, turn the dough to coat it with the oil, and let it rise in a warm place until double in size.
  3. Punch down and divide in two. Shape into 2 long loaves and place on a greased baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal. Let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Meanwhile preheat oven to 400F.
  4. Slash the top of the loaves with a sharp knife. Spray with water and bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
