2 Tablespoons | Warm water |
2 Tablespoons | Margarine |
1/2 Teaspoon | Salt |
1/2 Cup | Whole milk, scalded |
1 Cup | Whole wheat flour |
SAUCE: |
|
1/4 Cup | Onion, chopped |
2 Cloves | Garlic, chopped |
2 Teaspoons | Olive oil |
3/4 Cup | Tomato paste |
1 Cup | Tomatoes, canned |
Dash of | Black pepper |
1 1/2 Teaspoons | Oregano, crushed |
1/4 Teaspoon | Basil, crushed |
1/4 Teaspoon | Thyme, crushed |
1/4 Teaspoon | Marjoram, crushed |
1/4 Teaspoon | Cayenne |
2 Tablespoons | Parsley, chopped |
TOPPING: |

1 Cup | Mushrooms, sliced |
1/2 Cup | Red and green peppers, sliced |
8 Large | Black olives, pitted, halved |
1 Cup | Mozzarella cheese, shredded |
1/4 Cup | Parmesan cheese, grated |
- Soften the yeast in the warm water. In a separate bowl combine the margarine, salt, and milk. Cool to lukewarm.
- Stir in the yeast. Gradually add the flour until the dough is stiff. Knead 5 minutes. Cover and let rise in a warm place to twice its original size.
- Saut? the onion and garlic in the oil, add the remaining ingredients, cook approximately 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 425F. Grease a 12 inch pizza pan. Roll out the dough, place it in the pan, brush it with some oil and prick with a fork. Bake 3 to 5 minutes. Spread the sauce on the dough, then add the mushrooms and peppers. Return the pizza to the oven and bake 6 minutes. Top with the cheeses and olives and bake until they are melted.
