This is because one stores some amount of unused calories over a period of time before the change becomes visible. If you have been leading an idle lifestyle that always gives you too much time to sit around in your couch as you watch television, you must start by looking for a better way to spend your pass time.
In spite of the change in lifestyle, you may not be able to feel the change within a very short time unless you have developed some illness that is eating up your body's reserves at an alarming rate. You are well advised to change the foods that you eat. This is not to say that you are expected to starve in order to loose weight fast even though starving could give you quick results in weight loss. Starving does yield quick results but it is not very healthy as your body may develop other problems as well that may be difficult to control.
The other method that can be very helpful is the use of fruits and vegetables at the expense of meats and fats as well as sugars. Vegetables have vitamins that help in burning out excess fats and the continued intake of the same can help the body in cutting down the unnecessary weight. Fruits are another class of foods that should be taken in large quantities as they will play a great role in burning out the calories and any fatty reserves in the body. All these in addition to the change in physical activity should see you loose some weight in a short time.
