Hip Joint Pain
The hip joint is a major part of the body. It is where the legs and the torso are joined by muscles, ligaments, bones together with tendons. In case any of them has a minor or a major problem it creates hip joint pain. Such pain will make walking very difficult. The pain usually comes with stiffness, swelling as well as numbness in the joint.
The hip joint pain has many causes. Any disease affecting the joint is enough to cause the hip joint pain so as any injury to affecting the hip. But then there are major causes which are known to cause this pain. One much known cause of the hip joint pain is when there is a fracture in the hip joint. Someone can have a serious fall or traumatic injury. It this results in a fracture the pain will definitely be experienced. People who suffer from osteoporosis due to age are vulnerable to fracture due to degeneration of bones.
Bursitis is another known cause of hip joint pain. When people walk for long distances or climbing stairs or sit on hard surface for a long period of time, the fluid sacs in the hip joint are inflamed hence causing the pain. Arthritis is also a cause of the hip pain. If someone is suffering from arthritis where the joint cartilage has worn out, the bones will rub against each other and pain will be experienced. The Rheumatoid arthritis will cause a burning hip pain.
The first major treatment for the hip joint pain is to help relieve pressure from the joint. This can be done through enough resting. One is advised to lie on a firm surface for a long time and the pain will subside. Ice is applied on the swelling of the joint. With this kind of treatment the pain is expected to subside within 2 days but if no improvement is noticed within 24 hours of treatment, seek a medical advice. The ordinary pain killers prescribed are mean for temporary relieve whereas cortisone injection may be administered for severe pain.
The hip joint pain may be avoided is precautionary measures are taken all the time. This includes maintaining healthy body weight, good posture while carry on with daily activities when sitting or standing or when bending.
